Holistically speaking, and at the heart of every good pre-conceptual Infertility treatment programme, you can find KEY elements for healthy living and a happy life!

Nutrition – or eating a ‘balanced diet’, here the emphasis is on choosing a variety of foods from the following five food groups, every day. Breads; cereals, rice, pasta and noodles. Vegetables; and legumes, fruit; milk, yogurt and cheese. Meat, fish poultry, eggs, nuts and legumes. And MOST importantly balancing food intake with physical activity.

Essential Vitamins – Fat Soluble vitamins are stored in the body, so we don’t require daily doses. Vitamin A is found in oranges, red and green vegetables, dairy products and liver. Vitamin D is found in sunshine, butter and oily fish. Vitamin E, from oily fish, vegetable oils, nuts, eggs and cereals. And vitamin K is found in green leafy vegetables and soybeans.

Water Soluble vitamins – the vitamin C and B groups, are usually excreted after four hours – so we need daily top-ups. Vitamin C is plentiful in fresh vegetables and fruits. Vitamin B, including folate, are found in dark green leafy vegetables, dairy products, whole grains and liver.

Stress Busting – ‘A plate full of worry’ is bad for the belly and the waistline. In times of stress the body releases Cortisol and Adrenaline – ‘the fight or flight’ hormones, into the bloodstream. Then assuming that it’s used ‘a lot’ of energy dispatching the threat, the hormone sends signals to refuel the body as soon as possible. Cortisol also stimulates glucose release that can trigger excess insulin release in cases of ‘chronic’ stress, telling the body to store fat in abundance.
Relaxation Techniques – including, Walking, Yoga, Meditation, Reading, Massage, and Thai Chi, are just a few examples of effective relaxation strategies’ which can be incorporated into everyday life easily.
