What Is Phimosis?

By | July 2, 2019

Millions of men worldwide struggle with tight foreskin that will not retract over the glans without significant discomfort. For some, it will not retract at all. Contrary to assumptions, it’s far from a rare condition and doesn’t typically indicate a serious health issue. Instead, it’s a common and treatable condition known formally as phimosis.

In the vast majority of cases, the foreskin naturally detaches from the glans during childhood. By the time a man reaches his teenage years, it should have detached fully and retraction should be possible without discomfort. Damage to the glans and the foreskin can occur if attempts at retraction are made prior to detachment occurring, though this typically results in mild to moderate discomfort that subsides with time.

Unfortunately, there are cases where the foreskin cannot be comfortably retracted (or retracted at all) when the man reaches full maturity. When the cause of the issue is tightness of the foreskin, rather than adhesion to the glans, it is known as phimosis. For some men, the issue simply causes mild discomfort from time to time and isn’t drastically life-affecting. For others, phimosis can cause near-constant pain and discomfort.

In some instances, excessively tight foreskin can cause lasting damage to the penis.

Is It Possible to Cure Tight Foreskins?

Irrespective of the nature and severity of the issue, it’s important to organise a thorough examination with a professional. The problem is that more often than not, medical professionals immediately recommend circumcision. While this common surgical procedure can indeed cure tight foreskin, it is perhaps a little drastic and not the preferred option for many men.

For some, the desire to avoid circumcision stems from the general unpleasantness of the procedure. For others, it’s a case of preserving the protective properties of the foreskin, which can be invaluable for the health of the penis. Whatever the motivation, circumcision isn’t the first choice for millions of men with phimosis.

…and nor is it the only treatment option available.

Gentle Stretching

Depending on the cause of the phimosis – which may be present from birth or develop later in life – it’s often possible to simply reshape the foreskin through gentle stretching. Precision-engineered devices are attached directly to the penis, with no surgery or medical intervention of any kind required.

Phimosis tools are typically supplied in the form of a kit to suit all penis shapes and sizes. The ‘rings’ are used to gradually stretch the foreskin over several weeks or months, until such a time that it becomes comfortable to retract. After which, the resulting effect is usually permanent.

This new-generation approach to the treatment of phimosis has earned rave reviews from patients and practitioners worldwide. Particularly those with long-standing phimosis who’ve avoided treatment entirely to prevent the requirement for circumcision.

These simple yet effective phimosis tools have the potential to alleviate a surprisingly common problem for millions of men, though one that’s often suffered with in silence.
