Mission Health’s Fullerton Genetics Center is now providing telehealth consultations at Angel Medical Center in Franklin. This means patients do not have to drive to Asheville to receive genetic counseling, evaluation and testing. Patients from the Franklin region will be scheduled at Angel Medical Center to meet with genetic providers by video. Complete genetic testing can then be done, if needed, in one visit.

Services are provided for all ages from newborn to adult for patients with a known or suspected genetic disorder, birth defect, intellectual disability, dysmorphic features and increased risk for similar problems in pregnancy or by birth and drug metabolism concerns.

Fullerton Genetics Center is the region’s only comprehensive genetics and personalized medicine program with two board-certified geneticists in Medical Genetics and Genomics, five American Board of Genetic Counseling board-certified genetic counselors, a licensed clinical social worker and a licensed clinical pharmacist trained in pharmacogenomics. “We’re very excited to offer virtual genetic services to Angel Medical Center and look forward to providing more convenient access for patients in western North Carolina,” said Chad Haldeman-Englert, MD, a clinical geneticist with Fullerton Genetics Center.
