8 Mistakes You Could Be Making with Your Eye Cream

Most of our skin problems are near the eye area, maybe this is why eye creams are our favorite when it comes to skin care products. Dark circles, puffiness, crow feet and many more problems are addressed by eye creams. Using eye cream as a part of your daily skin care routine can make a huge difference in your facial appearance. However, many people tend to make a lot of mistakes when using an eye cream. Below are a few mistakes that you can fix when it comes to using an eye cream.

Using too much of the product

Most people end up squeezing a lot of product out despite the fact that the area around the eyes is quite small. All that is needed to moisturize the eye area is less than a pea-sized amount. So make sure that the next time you use your eye cream, only use a little, this will also save your eye cream from being wasted and will also save money as you will not run out of eye cream sooner.

Don’t apply out of order

Always check whether your eye cream needs to be applied before or after your moisturizer. The order in which the skin products are applied matters a lot. A rule which will help you out deciding which product to use first or in which order is to check the consistency or thickness, lighter products should always be used first followed by heavier and richer products.

Never use on dry skin

The most common mistake we all make is using not just our eye cream but also other moisturizers on dry skin. Applying eye cream on the damp skin will lock in the hydration, so next time when you are about to towel dry your face, resist the urge and apply the eye cream on the damp skin.

Getting the product too close to your eyes

Despite the name eye cream, using it too close to your eyes, near the lids or your lashes can be harmful. Only apply a small amount of eye cream on the orbital bone, under the eyebrows and always away from the lash line.  Try not getting the product into your eyes.

Rubbing the eye area

The skin under the eyes is the thinnest on the face. This is why we need to be very gentle when applying anything in the area. Never rub your under eye area harshly when applying the eye cream. Always apply in a soft, gentle dabbing motion. Rubbing too harshly also leads to wrinkles and lines so be very careful when applying eye cream.

Apply more products quickly

Always give your eye cream some time before you start layering the makeup on top. Moving too quickly will reduce the potential on your eye cream so always let the cream rest before you put any other product on top. It’s always a good idea to apply the eye cream beforehand when in a hurry so that it works its magic on your skin. This way you can easily do you make up afterward without getting late.
